Mel Goldberg is probably the most well known Television and Radio lawyer in the UK and has the most incredible natural ability to dispense legal advice in a way that is not only informative, but very entertaining. Mel is Chairman f te British Assciation for Sport and Law and former Chairman of the ASA (Amateur Swimming Association).
HE IS ALSO RANKED NUMBER 12 IN THE TOP MOST INFLUENTIAL SPORTS LAWYERS IN THE WORLD as prepared by Sports Business International.
He was educated at St. John’s College, Cambridge and is Senior partner of Mel Goldberg Law.
Mel represents quite a number of international Sporting celebrities and organizations, Olympic gold medallists and several world champions in boxing, squash, tennis and athletics. He has also arranged the transfer of several multi-million pound football players from one club to another.
Mel was the Legal Advisor of International Squash Players Association (IPSA) and was Vice-Chairman of the British Olympic Travel Association to the Moscow Olympic Games back in 1980.
Mel has written several articles for leading sports magazines and has appeared on numerous television programmes such as CNN Sports News and Business, Bloomberg Television, Sky Sports TV and BBC Radio 5 Live.
In 1997 Mel represented Hans Segers in the successful defence of the ‘Match Fixing Trial’, in which Hans Segers was acquitted, which was billed as the Football Trial of the Century.
He is the co-author with Hans Segers of the book entitled ‘The Final Score’ published by Robson Books and is a Committee Member of the British Association for Sport & Law. Mel is a Professional Member of the Sport Dispute Resolution Panel and an Associate Mediator of the Sports Dispute Resolution Panel of Mediators.
Mel has a wicked sense of humour and is often sought after by the media because he is extremely media friendly. Mel is a real pleasure to have around and would most certainly be a huge asset to any TV or Radio production.
Mel appeared in the BBC television programme Superagents which was an 8 episode series. This was a part factual entertainment series that took six young Brits on a journey into the glamourous and cut throat world of sports management. Mel and his colleagues cotribue to this rollercoaster ride of deal-making with appearances from sportsmen David James, Lewis Hamilton among many others.
The contenders performed tasks in the first half of the series before elimination began by Mel and his colleagues - leaving.....The Superagent.
