Tim Payne
England & Wasps
Having joined Wasps as something of a journey man player, prop Tim Payne has gone on a steady upward spiral since his debut for the club in 2003.
First establishing himself as a regular fixture in the 1XV, Tim went on to feature in both the 2004 and 2005 Zurich Premiership Final teams and the 2004 Heineken Cup winning side and also earned his first England Cap against Australia on 26th June 2004.
in 2005-6 Tim became Wasps senior prop, following the departure of Will Green and the retirement of Craig Dowd, and credits Dowd, now Wasps forwards coach for being the greatest influence in his career.
He continued to reap the benefits of his tutelage under the former All Blacks star in the summer of 2005 with a call up to the England squad for their tour of Australia, and two more caps duly came his way down under.
With Wasps pack making a big impression at the start of the 2006-7 season, Tim is in the heart of that action, and Director of Rugby Ian McGeechan has noted on several occasions the huge strides that his loose head has made to win further recognition.
Having played a part in all but one of Wasps' competitive games from September until Christmas, Tim has been picked as part of new England Coach, Brian Ashton's 32 man squad for this year's Six Nations competition
